A heartbreaking conclusion has been announced in the search for 37-year-old Andrew Truch, who was reported missing in the Canmore, Alberta area on November 26, 2025. After an intense multi-agency search that continued through the night, Andrew’s wife confirmed on Thursday morning that he had been found and had tragically passed away.
At 10:27 a.m., Andrew’s wife shared the devastating update:
“My wonderful husband Andrew has been found and he has passed away. I am heartbroken beyond words. Thank you to everyone who supported us. Please respect our family while we grieve.”
Andrew was first reported missing after failing to return from an outing in the mountains. His last known location, captured via Find My iPhone at 12:47 p.m., placed him in the Canmore area. A missing persons report was filed under case number 20251748734.
Later in the evening, at 11:19 p.m., Andrew’s vehicle — a white 2017 Honda HR-V with license plate CJJ 2519 — was discovered at the Goat Creek Trailhead, prompting an immediate and concentrated search effort. Emergency services, his family, and additional volunteers gathered at the site to begin searching.
It was believed that Andrew had taken the Ha Ling Peak trail, one of his favourite scrambles, an area known for steep terrain and challenging conditions. By 12:15 a.m., search and rescue crews, including canine units, had been deployed to scour the region throughout the night.
The search drew a significant collaborative response from local authorities, search and rescue teams, volunteers, and community members who mobilized quickly to assist.
Sadly, the search ended in tragedy when Andrew was located deceased on Thursday morning.
Andrew is remembered as a devoted husband, an avid outdoorsman, and someone who had a deep appreciation for the mountains surrounding Canmore. His loss has left his family, friends, and community in profound grief.
